Ah Counter Script

My duty as the “Ah Counter” is to listen carefully for verbal distractions, such as “um”, “ah”, “you-know”, “and”, “so”, “but” and other filler and crutch words or sounds.

When I hear these words I will ring the bell to alert the speaker that they are using a crutch word. Ringing the bell can help people break the habit of using crutch words. It may seem like a distraction but it can actually be very helpful.

I will keep track of the use of these words and will give a report at the end of the meeting. I will also pass around this box to collect 10 cents for each infraction up to a maximum of 50 cents.

(when called at the end of the meeting give the report)
